Lord Tofo, an artist coming hard out of the UK, may be one of the most slept on artists of 2018. His project “Two Face” is one of th best projects I listened to last year, his versatility is just incomparable. Due to the lack of a music scene in his hometown he doesn’t get the support he should be. Tofo is a huge inspiration to me, his passion to make music is unstoppable. His ability to switch up his flow is lethal, and that’s because of the variety of music he listens to. But you can find that out below!
How’d you get into music?
Music has always been one of the biggest things in my life and I got into music from a very young age. My mum and dad both love music and they also have a very wide taste in music. My mum showed me things like rap, reggae, r&b, jazz, etc. And then my dad introduced me to rock, garage music, house music, etc. When I was about 5 or 6 I started writing lyrics, which were obviously not good, but it showed my interest in music and that later on caused me to learn the drums and now the guitar.
How’d you come up with your name?
In my opinion I hate the name Lord Tofo, but when I was around the age of 9 I knocked out my two front adult teeth, which now have been fixed thanks to surgery and braces, but for about 4 years I was just known as the toothless kid. So when I first started making music seriously I was thinking about significant things that had happened to me in my life and the key word toothless came to mind so I decided to take the first two letters from that and then just added the ‘fo’ on to the end and the ‘Lord’ because it sounded cool.
What other music are you into besides rap?
I like pretty much all genres of music, apart from like country, classical, and folk music. My favourite genres of music other than rap are going to have to be: rock, jazz, blues, garage and grunge. Some of my favourite bands and artists are: Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Santana, Nirvana, Playboi Carti, Warhol.ss, Lucki, Tyler the Creator, and A$AP Rocky. If you don’t know who those are go check them out.
Whats the artist scene like around you?
I’m from the UK and where I live, it absolutely sucks. There isn’t an underground scene at all which is sad and there aren’t many artists I know of that live near me. But if you’re talking artists from other places then that’s an easy question, and my answer would be amazing. I love all my friends that I’ve met through music and they’ve all been so supportive of me. So shoutout to my bros: JIGGLY J, BLENCK FACE, HARLEY COURAGE, TONE TASO, KRAKEN, AND JARED.
Who is your biggest inspiration in life?
My biggest inspiration in my life when it comes to music would have to be: Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, and XXXTENTACION probably. But my biggest inspiration in life in general would have to be my dad, I look up to him so much and he’s the smartest person and most good hearted person I have ever met. LOVE YOU DAD <3 Who’s helped you the most with your music?
All the guys I mentioned before. Like Jiggly J, Blenck Face, etc. But you guys (Dreamer Data) have helped me insane amounts and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything, I wouldn’t be where I am now without you. Best blog in the underground.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
That’s a hard question. I don’t really like many qualities about my self. But if I had to pick one I’d say I’m super funny, well I’d like to think so anyway, and I make my friends and family happy.
If you could choose where would you want to live?
I would definitely choose to live out in the U.S with all my friends making music.
What should we expect for 2019?
In 2019 I will be releasing some amazing music. I’m working on a very versatile album called “H8REALITY”. You should also look out for a couple EPs and projects here and there. This year is gonna be great for my music.
